2017 Did You Know Archives

December 2017
DID YOU KNOW

  • That the 2018 Budget passed, and our overall assessments will not increase.
  • That Management installed accounting software and since October 2017 has been unable to produce a Financial Statement, leaving all of us completely in the blind as to where are going to finish the year financially.
  • That the marketing company put up a new SCECA Facebook page and finally removed all the fake pictures of Saw Creek that existed on the old site, an item we have critical about for some time now.
  • That the promotional advertisements on the SCECA Facebook page now look far better and give a better perception of the community.
  • That the new Facebook page calls the community a 5-Star, 4 Season Recreational Community which, along with most of you commenting, we believe sends the wrong message when we are indeed a 4 Season Residential Community with Amenities.
  • That the Board has promised to “Answer all emails” sent to SCEBOD@sawcreek.org.  Please use this as a forum to ask questions and voice concerns!

  DID YOU KNOW {cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2DStartFragment%2D%2D%3E

  • That in 2013 there were 2,936 billable lots in Saw Creek.  As of 2018 we only have 2,905.  In five years, 31 homes/lots disappeared.
  • That all five drafts of the budget do not reveal the loss of billable lots for the years 2014 and 2015?
  • That those other communities in the area (to which the Board and Management like to compare their performance) collect 97% of the dues compared to Saw Creek’s 87%.
  • That we could fix all this if we all came out to vote for board candidates willing to listen and take action.
  • That responsibility for all this starts at the top.  Our General Managers contract comes up for renewal very soon.  It time to start changes from the top down by not renewing his contract.

    DID YOU KNOW

  • Our operating budget drives the cost of our dues.
  • Our operating budget has increased by 10% in the last 2 years while the CPI has only increased by 1.5%
  • Our operating budget has increased by over $500,000 dollars in the last two years.
  • Our operating budget for the last three years has been overstated by roughly $160,000 dollars.
  • If we continue on this path by 2020, it is likely that our Annual Dues will be over $2,000 dollars.

    DID YOU KNOW

  • EVERY YEAR THOUSANDS OF NON-RESIDENTS ENTER OUR GATES, STRESS OUR RESOURCES AND COST US THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN ADDED EXPENSES. THIS SHOULD BE AN ALTERNATIVE REVENUE STREAM THAT CONTAINS OUR DUES

  • THE IMAGE OF OUR COMMUNITY AND THE VALUE OF OUR HOMES ARE NEGATIVELY IMPACTED BY ABANDONED AND FORECLOSED HOMES WHICH ARE NOT BEING MAINTAINED. ACTION CAN BE TAKEN WITH BANKS AND INVESTORS FOR THE UPKEEP OF HOMES THEY HAVE TAKEN POSSESSION OF.

  • MANAGEMENT AND THE BOARD NEED TO FOCUS ON RESIDENT ISSUES AND COMPLAINTS AND TAKE ACTION ACCORDINGLY.  TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN – PLEASE VOTE.
